The Sweetest Gift
There are some things in this life that you cannot put a price on. Today, I received one of those very things! I met a friend on Facebook named Christine Schnee. She's an amazingly talented woman who lives in Germany and we share a common bond through our love of pigs.
On this National Pig Day, I wanted to say "Thank You" to Christine for the beautiful, beautiful blanket that she sent to my guys! I have never had anyone give me something so personal and so special; something that I will treasure forever...and it comes from someone half way across the world who I have never met before. Kindness, compassion, love, and generosity know no boundaries.
Just look at the beautiful stitching, the amazing colors, the darling piggies! I adore it so much!

I am positively addicted to subscription boxes!
So, I guess this is my new thing...subscription boxes. I get them sent to where I work so it's like a special treat at the end of the day.
I've tried a few kinds of boxes. The first one I ever had was Ipsy. You go on their website and complete a simple beauty profile. In about a month, they send 5 sample-sized beauty trials in a cute little bag. I probably got this 6 or 7 times. It's pretty trendy and no matter what your profile looks like, you end up with lots of pink and red things.
After Ipsy, I went on to try Birchbox. I bought this subscription as a gift for my daughter and son. They have both a woman's and a men's box to try. The men's box is twice the price but it comes with more deluxe products and a full-size item. I was pretty impressed with the quality of the items and the brands; all high-end cosmetics that you'd find in big-city department stores and Sephora. It's sort of like Ipsy for grown-ups. When I made the transition to cruelty-free products and figured out what I wanted to focus on when it comes to beauty and skincare, I opted to choose my products more carefully. Now, all of my make-up is from IT Cosmetics and my skincare comes from another place that I will tell you about shortly...It's my absolute favorite.

Thinking of getting a piggy?
Have you been dreaming of kissing a wet snout? Longing to have your own snuggle bug? Please do me a favor and if you are interested in these sweet angels, contact me before making a purchase from a breeder. I have nothing to gain as a breeder will and will teach you the absolute truth about pigs and raising them. Some trigger words used by breeders are "mini", "teacup", and "micro". If you hear these words you need to run. If you remember only one thing I say, remember this: "There is no such thing as a miniature pig." Rinse and repeat. Never has been, never will be.

Blog Epiphany
Some might say I'm late to the party. I've never had a blog before. It's not that I haven't had the time or the desire; I just haven't had anything to say. This is the first time I've felt like I've had anything to share. This is the first time that I've felt like I am in the right place at the right time. It's the first time I am able to help myself, so now (maybe) I can help you!
Sure, anyone can publish a blog. There are millions of blogs about hair or makeup or music. Nobody needs another blog about that. This is a blog that is dedicated to the things that I am absolutely infatuated with. If it's not connected in some way to health or pigs, you won't be reading about it here!
I hope this journal/cook-book/green-living guide/potbelly pig bible touches your heart and brightens your day at least half as much as it does mine. You can expect to see lots of photos of my guys, lots of shout-outs to my favorite organizations, lots of useful tips and recommendations, and some personal stories thrown in for good measure.
